As part of the “It’s OWL: ARISE – Artificial Intelligence in Production Planning and Control” funding project, packaging manufacturer Schulte Kartonagen from Delbrück was selected to research the use of artificial intelligence in the planning and control of production.
Josef Schulte GmbH has chosen FASTEC GmbH from Paderborn as its partner. The Manufacturing Execution System FASTEC 4 PRO is the optimal tool for production data acquisition as the basis for this innovative project. FASTEC’s proximity to the location and the personal factor of a medium-sized company, where partnership-based cooperation and communication at eye level are important pillars of the company’s character, were convincing factors in the selection of the provider. Schulte Kartonagen’s many years of experience in the field of production optimization, its flexibility and its interest in innovative projects prompted it to go down the path with FASTEC.
By using the modular MES system, production is to be digitalized and a data basis generated for follow-up projects. The following functions of the MES FASTEC 4 PRO are used for this purpose:
- Bidirectional interface to the Kartosoft ERP system for seamless integration of the software into the existing IT system landscape
- Binding of machines for recording services and availabilities
- Mapping of digital Production Data Acquisition
- Precise recording of employee times and performance
- Digitized documents for worker management and paperless production
- Automatic quality assurance and digital processing of test results
- Predictive maintenance based on production data to optimize planned maintenance and carry out repairs efficiently
- Live monitoring of current events on large screens
- Alerts in the event of unforeseeable events
- Smartphone app for system use while on the move
- Analysis of recorded data to optimize production processes and reduce losses
- Open interfaces for transferring data to BI systems
