How can employees reconcile work, family and care? Offering earnings and career opportunities alone is no longer enough to attract and retain specialists and managers. For us, supporting our employees in all phases of their lives is not a question, but part of everyday life. What was already a “good gut feeling” is now “in black and white” and we are delighted to have received the “Family-friendly company” award.
The seal of approval was preceded by an audit carried out by a cooperative alliance involving the Paderborn district, the East Westphalia Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Bielefeld, the OWL Chamber of Crafts and the OWL Competence Center for Women and Work.
A jury of several members evaluated the participating companies in the categories
- ” Making working hours and place of work more flexible”,
- “Service and support offers”,
- “Personnel and organizational development”
- “Corporate culture” and
- “Information and communication”
After the written application, our HR officer Viktoria Merk and individual employees, Ms. Stühmeyer-Freese from the OstWestfalenLippe GmbH Women and Career Competence Centre and Edith Rehmann-Decker as a representative of the Paderborn district, answered questions in person.
Among other things, we were able to score points with flexible and unbureaucratic working time models, especially in emergencies and exceptional times when a family member suddenly falls ill or needs care. But also with financial support in the event of prolonged illness. “Family orientation, individual understanding and appreciation, which lead to flexible solutions, can also be implemented with us due to the personal company atmosphere,” says Managing Director Stefan Rupprecht.
The seal visibly attests to the fact that the award-winning companies value families and make it possible to balance work and family life. Digitalization in particular, whether home office or mobile working, offers completely new opportunities to reconcile work and family life.
The award-winning companies as well as interested companies have the opportunity to take part in topic-specific workshops. On the one hand, these serve to acquire further knowledge and thus prepare for another award in 2023. On the other hand, they can network and exchange ideas with other family-friendly companies in the Paderborn district.
We are delighted to be part of this community and will do our best to continue to receive the award in the coming years.
